Lead Me Lord

I love the hymn written by Samuel Sebastian Wesley & I think that’s why I’ve always sought to make it relevant to new generations by rewriting it. Its so simple & profound & the music is so rich & dark & thoughtful. As I grow as a person & a Christian this song becomes more meaningful to me as do lyrics from hymns like ‘thy way not mine O Lord’. In a world of ever increasing self dependence & independence to cast your cares on God & let him direct Your paths seems harder & harder & yet easier to do, all at the same time.

Lead me Lord, lead me in Your righteousness
Make Your way plain, before my face

Give ear to my words Lord
Consider my sighs
Make sense of the ramblings
My groans & my cries
I lay out the pieces
Of my life again
There on the altar
& watch for the fire to descend

Lead me Lord, lead me in Your righteousness
Make Your way plain, before my face

O Lord be my refuge
My light & my song
Facedown in your temple
Is where I belong
Humbly I enter
No lies or demands
Lord I surrender
& lay down my life into your hands

Lead me Lord God in your righteousness
Lead me Lord God in your holiness
Lead me Lord God in your righteousness
Lead me Lord God
Lead me Lord

Lead me Lord, make your way plain
Lead me Lord, make your path straight plain

For it is You Lord, You Lord only
You make me to dwell in safety
